GeoNOG2019, GeoIGF 2019 and ISOC CN Summit

We were invited by The Internet Society as speakers to three conference events organised by The Internet Society in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

First we presented IoT with LoRaWAN to members and guests of Georgian Network Operators Group on their annual meeting : https://nog.ge/en/agenda-geonog2019/

Tech part (in georgian) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEBXUAMN_Ew&feature=youtu.be&t=6769

Internet Governance Forum’s goals are to bring together actors from various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public policy issues relating to the Internet. We had a presentation of IoT from LPWAN perspective and share our experiences and vision.

We also took part on a panel discussion with students at Internet Governance Youth School : https://youtu.be/gNlf9kta-mg (in georgian)

Last part of we took part at was European Community Networks Summit “Community Networks: Connecting the Next Billion”, a large international conference that bring together stakeholders and EU policy-makers from all over Europe : https://www.internetsociety.org/events/2019-european-summit-on-community-networks/ .

The concept of The Things Network with it’s community approach is very well understood and accepted … but we need some more advocacy activities to spread the cause   .

Organisers from ISOC , GeoNOG, … George Gotoshia, Sandro Karumidze and Ucha Seturi arranged several formal and a bit less formal meetings and a great trip to famous Kakheti region. We met local kvevri wine producers and had a quick realtime presentation of our OENO project (https://oeno.global) in the cellar.

After conferences summary:

  • partnership on a LoRaWAN/TheThingsNetwork coverage project of Tusheti region by upgrading Community Network (we simulated the coverage, see bellow)
  • setting up the plans and helping to build infrastructure for #smartagriculture and #smartcity projects with partners
  • collaborate on LoRa LAB , workshops and educational events
